Ada Maria Clarke - Titanic Second Class Passenger

Mrs Ada Maria Clarke was traveling aboard Titanic as a second class passenger along with her husband Charles Valentine Clarke, intending to go to San Francisco, California, United States. They boarded Titanic on 10th April 1912 at Southampton, United Kingdom.

Ada Maria Clarke was born in Netley Abbey, Hampshire, United Kingdom in 1884. She was married to Charles Valentine Clarke on 29th June 1908.

As Titanic’s lifeboats were being loaded on 15th April 1912 after the ship had stuck an iceberg, she was lowered away from the ship in Lifeboat 14. Her husband was lost in the disaster.

After arriving in New York aboard the rescue ship Carpathia, she soon returned home.

Ada Maria Clarke died in Southampton on 8th February 1953. She was buried in the grave yard at Holy Trinity Church, Southampton. The memorial at her grave says: "In loving memory of Ada Maria Clarke, passed away Feb. 8th 1953, aged 69, survivor of Titanic disaster 1912. Also Charles V. Clarke, her beloved husband who lost his life on S.S. Titanic. Re-united."
