Alexander Milne Cairns - Titanic First Class Passenger

Mr Alexander Milne Cairns was 28 year old first class passenger travelling aboard Titanic as the manservant of William Carter. The Carter family were making their way back to the United States; Joining Titanic at the start of her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, United Kingdom to New York City, New York, United States on 10th April 1912, travelling in the group with Alexander Cairns were William Carter, his wife Lucile Carter and her maid Auguste Serreplan, and their son also called William Carter. Their chauffeur, Charles Aldworth, travelled in second class.

Alexandre Cairns was born in Kinfauns, Perthshire, Scotland, United Kingdom on 19th April 1883. His parents were William and Margaret Cairns.

Alexander Cairns did not survive the sinking of Titanic, and his body is not known to have been found or recovered from the sea. All of the Carter family survived the disaster, but Charles Aldworth, their chauffer was also lost.

Alexander Cairns name is included on his family’s gravestone in Kinfauns. Inscribed under his name on the memorial is: “Lost with "Titanic," 15th April 1912."
