Elizabeth Mussey Eustis - Titanic First Class Passenger

Miss Elizabeth Mussey Eustis was a 54 year old first class passenger aboard the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic. Accompanied by her 52 year old sister Martha Stephenson, she boarded Titanic at Cherbourg, France during the evening of 10th April 1912. Elizabeth Eustis had been on a tour abroad. Aboard Titanic she and her sister shared cabin D20.

Elizabeth Eustis was born in Boston, Massachusetts, United States on 1st March 1858. Her parents were William and Martha Eustis. At the time of the Titanic disaster her home was in Brookline Massachusetts.

At the time Titanic hit the iceberg on 14th April 1912, Elizabeth Eustis was in bed in her cabin. She and her sister were rescued from Titanic in Lifeboat 4. To board Lifeboat 4, as Lifeboat 4 was loaded from the A Deck promenade deck, they had to climb through a window to get into the boat.

It appears Elizabeth Eustis never married.

She died in Brookline, Massachusetts, on 17th May 1936. Her death certificate lists her cause of death as being Coronary Thrombosis.

Her funeral and burial took place on 20th May 1936. She was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
