Marion Louise Becker - Titanic Second Class Passenger

Miss Marion Louise Becker was a 4 year old second class passenger travelling aboard Titanic to the United States. She was traveling with her mother, Nellie Becker, her older sister Ruth Becker and her younger brother Richard Becker. They had joined Titanic at Southampton on 10th April 1912.

Marion Louise Becker was born to American parents in India, where her father worked as a missionary, on 28th December 1907. They were making their way to America due to her younger brother Richard being unwell and in need of treatment.

As the lifeboats were being lowered from Titanic as the ship was sinking during the early hours of 15th April 1912, Marion Louise Becker and her brother were placed into Lifeboat 11 initially without their mother. As the lifeboat was about to leave Nellie Becker called out to be let in the boat and to say her children were aboard – she was able to join them, but her 12 year old sister Ruth Becker got left behind on deck on deck. Her mother called out for her to join another Lifeboat. Ruth Becker was able to join those in Lifeboat 13.

Marion Louise Becker and her family survived the sinking and safely arrived in America, where they then lived.

Marion Louise Becker died from Tuberculosis in 1944. She was buried at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, Illinois, United States.
