William Henry Gillespie - Titanic Second Class Passenger

Mr William Henry Gillespie was a second class passenger travelling aboard the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic. His final intended destination was Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He boarded Titanic at Southampton on 10th April 1912.

He was born on 7th October 1880 in Carlow, Ireland. Prior to boarding Titanic he resided in Abbeyleix, County Laois, Ireland. He was at least at some point employed as a clerk in Abbeyleix. Whatever his role was, he seems to have been employed by a local carpet company in 1912, and it is said, this is why he was travelling to Canada.

William Henry Gillespie did not survive the Titanic Disaster. His body is not known to have been recovered.

His name is included on the memorial at the grave of his parents, Richard and Eliza Gillespie, in Abbeyleix, Ireland. The memorial says of him: "William Henry [Gillespie] who was lost at sea in Titanic disaster 15th April 1912. Aged 31 years."
