Charles Valentine Clarke - Titanic Second Class Passenger

Charles Valentine Clarke was a second class passenger travelling across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the maiden voyage of Titanic with his wife Ada Maria Clarke. They were traveling to San Francisco, California, United States. They started their voyage aboard Titanic at Southampton on 10th April 1912.

Charles Valentine Clarke was born on Valentine's Day (14th February) 1883 in Cosham, Hampshire, United Kingdom. He married Ada Maria Winfield on 29th June 1908.

Charles Valentine Clarke died during the inking of Titanic on 15th April 1912. His body is not known to have been recovered. His wife was rescued.

His name is included on the memorial at his wife’s grave at Holy Trinity Church, Southampton. The following is found on the memorial: "In loving memory of Ada Maria Clarke, passed away Feb. 8th 1953, aged 69, survivor of Titanic disaster 1912. Also Charles V. Clarke, her beloved husband who lost his life on S.S. Titanic. Re-united."
