Ethel Garside - Titanic Second Class Passenger
Miss Ethel Garside was a second class passenger traveling aboard Titanic back to New York. She had recently returned home to Britain for a visit. She joined Titanic at Southampton on 10th April 1912
She was born on 13th March 1873 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. She moved to the United States in 1910, where she was employed as a nurse and lived in New York.
Prior to boarding Titanic she had been visiting her family in Ardleigh, Essex.
She survived the Titanic disaster by being lowered away from the sinking ship in Lifeboat 12.
After Titanic she continued crossing the Atlantic, making several trips between Britain and America.
She eventually returned to live in Britain, where she died on 25th March 1953, in Hoylake, Merseyside (then in Cheshire). She was cremated.
