4th April:

On this day 112 years ago: In the early hours of the morning, Titanic completed her first sea crossing - her delivery trip from Belfast to Southampton, with just six days to go before her maiden voyage. In celebration she was dressed in flags and pennants for the day.

Note: It is sometimes said that it was on 5th April that she was dressed in flags, but it seems it was actually on the 4th April. In celebration of her arrival, not to mark Good Friday on the next day, as as long sometimes been said.

On this day 112 years ago it was Easter Sunday. An advantage of being in port over Easter, only a minimal number of Titanic's crew worked today, despite there only being three days to go before Titanic's maiden voyage.
