Kate Buss - Titanic Second Class Passenger
Miss Kate Buss was a second class passenger travelling aboard Titanic to America. Travelling on her own, she boarded Titanic at Southampton on 10th April 1912, heading for California where her fiancé, Samuel George Willis (born in 1873), was waiting to marry her.
Kate Buss was born in Sittingbourne, Kent, United Kingdom on 28th December 1875.
When Titanic struck the iceberg she was awake in her cabin reading a newspaper. She then went to investigate. She escaped from Titanic in Lifeboat 9.
After her arrival in America she went to California to be with her fiancé, Samuel George Willis, They married on 11th May 1912.
Kate Willis died on 12th July 1972. She was buried at Fircrest Cemetery, Monmouth, Oregon. The memorial at her grave notes that she was a Titanic survivor. Her husband had died in 1853.
