Vera Dick - Titanic First Class Passenger

Mrs Vera Dick was a first class passenger aboard the maiden voyage of Titanic with her husband Albert Adrian Dick. They lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and are said to have been returning home from their honeymoon aboard Titanic.

They boarded Titanic at Cherbourg, France on 10th April 1912 – and occupied a cabin on the port side of B Deck, cabin B20.

Vera Dick was born on 12th June 1894 in Calgary. She married her husband on a notable day during the previous year – 31st May – the very same day in which Titanic was launched into the water at Harland and Wolff, Belfast. Her maiden name was Vera Gillespie; her parents were William Annie Gillespie.

As Titanic was sinking on 15th April 1912, she was lowered away from the ship with her husband in Lifeboat 3, which is believed to overall been the fourth lifeboat to be lowered away from the sinking ship. They were both safely rescued by Carpathia and were able to continue their journey home to Canada.

Vera Dick died on 7th October 1973. She was buried beside her husband at Union Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Her husband had died on 2nd June 1970.
