William Gilbert - Titanic Second Class Passenger
Mr William Gilbert was sailing aboard Titanic, returning home to America from a visit to Cornwall, where he was born and he had family. He joined the maiden voyage of Titanic as a second class passenger on 10th April 1912 at Southampton. It is said that he had delayed his return home in order to sail back on Titanic.
He was born in 1865 in Polladrass, Carleen, Cornwall, United Kingdom. At some point he moved to America, where he lived and worked in Butte, Montana. His sister Mary also moved there and his father also spent time working there.
He did not survive the sinking of Titanic. His body is not known to have been amongst those recovered.
